Crochet a Santa Hat Ornament – Free Pattern – Christmas Ornaments – Holiday Decorations

It’s finally time to start sharing some holiday decorations! I love Christmas so much and you will see from how many patterns I will posting this month. First up is a santa hat ornament that uses a small amount of yarn and will add a cute touch to your Christmas decorations!

Let’s get started!

Materials: Santa Hat Ornament

2.00 mm Crochet Hook
3.00 mm Crochet Hook
DK Yarn
Lace Yarn
Tapestry Needle
A Pair of Scissors
Stuffing

Note: The numbers in the brackets represent the number of stitches in each row

Abbreviations

CH – Chain
SC – Single Crochet (DC in UK terms)
SC2TOG – Single Crochet Two Stitches Together (DC2TOG in UK terms)
ST – Stitch
SLST – Slip Stitch
FLO – Front Loop Only
MR – Magic Ring
FO – Finish Off

Pattern: Santa Hat Ornament

CH 8.

Row 1: SC in second CH from hook and down row. Turn. (7)

Row 2 – 11: CH 1. SC in BLO of each. Turn. (7)

FO and leave tail.

White Trim Row 1: Attach white yarn and SC across. (12)

Row 2 – 5: CH 1. SC in each ST across. Turn. (13)

FO. Leave tail and sew edges and top closed.

Pom Pom – Lace yarn and 2.00 mm hook

Round 1: 6 SC in MR. (6)
Round 2: 2 SC in each ST around. (12)
Round 3 – 4: 1 SC in each (12)
Round 5: *SC2TOG.* Repeat around. (6)
FO. Close with needle in FLO.

Attach to top of hat. Use a short piece of yarn attach it to the top of the ball to make a loop for hanging the hat up.
