
Toadstool Mushroom Bag Charm – Chapstick Holder – Free Crochet Pattern

Hello!
I am so excited about sharing the pattern this week! I wanted to create a cute little gift that would also be useful for my friends and family over the holidays, so I came up with this Crochet Toadstool Mushroom Bag Charm Chapstick Holder. You can also just make it as just a bag charm and stuff the hollow stem with a bit of stuffing.

Note: The numbers in the brackets represent the number of stitches in each row
Abbreviations
MR – Magic Ring
CH – Chain
SC – Single Crochet (DC in UK terms)
SC2TOG – Single Crochet Two Stitches Together (DC2TOG in UK terms)
BLO – Back Loop Only
FLO – Front Loop Only
ST – Stitch
SLST – Slip Stitch
FO – Finish Off


Pattern: Toadstool Mushroom Bag Charm Chapstick Holder
Stem – using white yarn
Round 1: SC 6 in MR. (6)
Round 2: 2 SC in each ST around. (12)
Round 3: *1 SC, 2 SC in next* Repeat around. (18)
Round 4: *1 SC in next 2 STs, 2 SC in next.* Repeat around. (24)
Round 5 – 8: SC around. (24)
Round 9: *SC in next 2 STs, SC2TOG.* Repeat around. (18)
Round 10 – 27: SC around. (18)
Round 28: SLST into 1st SC from previous round. CH 71. SC down CH (70 SC) SLST into next ST.
FO and weave in ends.
Attach a piece of yarn to the other end of the loop, this will be used to sew the stem onto the cap later.



Cap – using red yarn
Round 1: SC 6 in MR. (6)
Round 2: 2 SC in each ST around. (12)
Round 3: *1 SC, 2 SC in next* Repeat around. (18)
Round 4: *1 SC in next 2 STs, 2 SC in next.* Repeat around. (24)
Round 5: *1 SC in next 3 STs, 2 SC in next.* Repeat around. (30)
Round 6: *1 SC in next 4 STs, 2 SC in next.* Repeat around. (36)
Round 7: *1 SC in next 5 STs, 2 SC in next.* Repeat around. (42)
Round 8 – 9: SC around. (42)
Round 10: *1 SC in next 6 STs, 2 SC in next.* Repeat around. (48)
Round 11: SC around. (48)
Round 12: *1 SC in next 7 STs, 2 SC in next.* Repeat around. (54)
Round 13: *1 SC in next 8 STs, 2 SC in next.* Repeat around. (60)
Round 14: *1 SC in next 9 STs, 2 SC in next.* Repeat around. (66)

Make ~24 French knots for spots. Using a small sewing needle and wrap yarn around it 3 times.
Round 17: SC in BLO around. (66)
Round 18: SC around. (66)
Round 19: *1 SC in next 9 STs, SC2TOG* Repeat around. (60)
Round 20: *1 SC in next 8 STs, SC2TOG* Repeat around. (54)
Round 21: *1 SC in next 7 STs, SC2TOG.* Repeat around. (48)
Round 22: SC around. (48)
Round 23: *1 SC in next 6 STs, SC2TOG.* Repeat around. (42)
Round 24: *1 SC in next 5 STs, SC2TOG.* Repeat around. (36)
Round 25: *1 SC in next 4 STs, SC2TOG.* Repeat around. (30)
Round 26: *1 SC in next 3 STs, SC2TOG.* Repeat around. (24)

FO in FLO. Weave in ends.
Using the tail from the loop of the stem, weave the loop from the underside to the top side and then from the top side to the underside. Make sure not to twist the loop. Once that is complete, sew the end onto the other side of the stem, opposite the beginning of the loop.
