Crochet Shiitake Bag Charm – Bonus Chapstick Holder!

Hi!

This week, I shared the video tutorial for the Shiitake Mushroom Bag Charm. I wanted to make a little friend for the toadstool mushroom bag charm I made, and I thought the Shiitake Mushroom was a nice addition. The Shiitake bag charm just uses two colours and you don’t need to know any fancy stitches. There is a little bit of embroidery for the details, but again, nothing too intricate!

Materials: Shiitake Bag Charm

2.50 mm Hook
Lace Weight Yarn
Scissors
Tapestry Needle
Stitch Marker

Note: The numbers in the brackets represent the number of stitches in each row

CH – Chain
MR – Magic Ring
SC – Single Crochet (DC in UK terms)
SC2TOG – Single Crochet 2 Stitches Together (DC2TOG in UK terms
BLO – Back Loop Only
ST(s) – Stitch(es)
FO – Finish Off

Mushroom Cap

Round 1: SC 6 in MR. (6)

Round 2: 2 SC in each ST around. (12)

Round 3: *1 SC, 2 SC in next* Repeat around. (18)

Round 4: *1 SC in next 2 STs, 2 SC in next.* Repeat around. (24)

Round 5: *1 SC in next 3 STs, 2 SC in next.* Repeat around. (30)

Round 6: *1 SC in next 4 STs. 2 SC in next.* Repeat around. (36)

Round 7: *1 SC in next 5 STs. 2 SC in next.* Repeat around. (42)

Round 8: *1 SC in next 6 STs. 2 SC in next.* Repeat around. (48)

Round 9: *1 SC in next 7 STs. 2 SC in next.* Repeat around. (54)

Make 4 daisy stitches at the top of the mushroom with the same yarn as the stem. 

Round 13: SC in BLO around. (66)

Round 15: *1 SC in next 8 STs, SC2TOG* Repeat around. (54)

Round 16: *1 SC in next 7 STs, SC2TOG.* Repeat around. (48)

Round 17: *1 SC in next 6 STs, SC2TOG.* Repeat around. (42)

Round 18: *1 SC in next 5 STs, SC2TOG.* Repeat around. (36)

Round 19: *1 SC in next 4 STs, SC2TOG.* Repeat around. (30)

Round 20: *1 SC in next 3 STs, SC2TOG.* Repeat around. (24)

Stem

Round 1: SC 6 in MR. (6)

Note: After Round 27, SLST into 1st SC. 

CH 71. FO with long tail. Sew the tail into the mushroom cap in between rounds 3 and 4. Make sure not to twist the CH.
