Crochet Bunny Hat and Diaper Cover Free Pattern

It is almost the long weekend and time for Easter! I received some free fuzzy pink yarn recently and was wondering what I could make with it. Then I thought since it is almost Easter, I would make a bunny rabbit baby set with a hat and diaper cover. I thought it would be difficult to crochet with this yarn, but if you don’t have to undo it, it crochets like any other yarn. This is my first time designing a diaper cover pattern so there were some sections that I had to redo and adjust. I also adjusted the baby hat pattern for the bunny hat and made some ears to add on top.
Here is the pattern:
Materials
5.00 mm (H) Hook
Bulky (Weight: 5)
Yarn
Scissors
Tapestry Needles
Buttons (Optional)
Abbreviations
CH – Chain
DC – Double Crochet
MR – Magic Ring
ST – Stitch
SLST – Slip Stitch
FO – Finish Off
DC2TOG – Double Crochet Two Stitches Together
Bunny Hat Pattern
Round 1: CH 2. 12 DC in MR. SLST into the 1st ST. (12)
Round 2: CH 2. 2 DC into each ST around. SLST into the 1st ST. (24)
Round 3: CH 2. *2 DC into next ST, DC into the one after that.* Repeat from * to * around. SLST into 1st ST. (36)
Round 4: CH 2. *2 DC into next ST, DC into the next two ST after that.* Repeat from * to * around. SLST into 1st ST. (48)
Round 5 – 15: CH 2. DC in each ST around. SLST into 1st ST. (48)
FO. Weave in ends.
Bunny Ears Pattern (Make 2)
Round 1: Form a MR. CH 2. 12 DC into MR (12)
Round 2 – 3: 1 DC into each ST around (12)
Round 4: *DC2TOG* Repeat from * to * around (6)
Round 5: 1 DC into each ST around. SLST into 1st ST (6)
FO. Leave tail to sew onto top of the hat.
Bunny Ear Fluffs Pattern (Make 2)
CH 7. Row 1: SC into second CH from hook and till end (6)
FO. Leave tail to sew onto the middle of the ears.
Bunny Diaper Cover Pattern
CH 66.
Round 1: SC into 2nd CH from hook and till end. Turn (65)
Round 2 – 3: CH 2. DC into each stitch across. Turn (65)
Round 4: SLST into the 1st 21 STs. CH 2. DC into next 25 STs. Turn (25)
Round 5 – 9: CH 2. DC into 25 STs. Turn (25)
Round 10: CH 2. DC2TOG twice. DC into next 17 STs. DC2TOG twice. Turn (21)
Round 11: CH 2. DC into 21 STs. Turn (21)
Round 12 – 15: CH 2. DC2TOG twice. DC into next 13 STs. DC2TOG twice. Turn (17)
FO. Weave in ends.
Bunny Diaper Cover Tail Pattern
Round 1: Form a MR. SC 6 times into MR. SLST into 1st ST (6)
Round 2: SC twice into each ST around (12)
Round 3: *SC into ST, then SC twice into next ST* Repeat from * to * around. SLST into 1st SC (18)
FO. Leave tail to sew onto the back of the diaper cover.
Bunny Diaper Cover Buttons Pattern (Make 2) (Optional)
Round 1: Form a MR. SC 6 times into MR. SLST into 1st ST (6) FO.
Leave tail to sew buttons onto the diaper cover.
Bunny Hat Assembly
– Using the ends of the ear us, sew the u onto the middle of each ear and weave in ends.
– Once complete, use the ends of the ears, sew the ears onto the top of the hat and weave in ends.
Bunny Diaper Cover Assembly
– Using the ends of the buttons, sew the buttons onto the front flap of the diaper cover and weave in ends.
– Once complete, use the end of the tail to sew the tail onto the middle of the back of the diaper cover and weave in ends.
