Pumpkin Newborn Baby Crochet Hat Pattern

Hi Everyone!

Ever since I made the pumpkin and Jack-o-Lantern patterns, I felt like I had to make a pumpkin hat for a newborn. This is a very easy pattern that would look adorable on any new babies in your life for their Halloween costume or just another fall day.

Here is the pattern:

Materials
5.00 mm (H) Hook
Medium Weight (4) Yarn (I used Loops and Threads Impeccable and Craft Smart Value)
Scissors
Tapestry Needle
Stitch Marker

Abbreviations
CH – Chain
MR– Magic Ring
DC – Double Crochet
SLST – Slip Stitch
ST – Stitch
FO – Finish Off

Pattern
Pumpkin – Start with Brown Yarn
Round 1: CH 2. 8 DC into a MR. SLST into 2nd CH of CH 2 (8) Switch to Orange Yarn Note: Place stitch marker at the beginning of Round 2.
Round 2: CH 2. 2 DC in each ST. SLST into 2nd CH of CH 2 (16)
Round 3: CH 2. *1 DC in next ST, then 2 DC in next ST* Repeat from * to * around. SLST into 2nd CH of CH 2 (24)
Round 4: CH 2. *1 DC in next 2 STs, then 2 DC in next ST* Repeat from * to * around. SLST into 2nd CH of CH 2 (32)
Round 5: CH 2. *1 DC in next 3 STs, then 2 DC in next ST* Repeat from * to * around. SLST into 2nd CH of CH 2 (40)
Round 6: CH 2. *1 DC in next 4 STs, then 2 DC in next ST* Repeat from * to * around. SLST into 2nd CH of CH 2 (48)
Note: You can do more or less increases to make a larger or smaller hat. For example, for Round 7 you could do *1 DC in the next 5 STs, then 2 DC in the next ST* around for a larger hat. For a smaller hat you could stop increasing after Round 5.
Round 7 – 12: CH 2. DC around. SLST into 2nd CH of CH 2 (48)
FO. Weave in ends.

Stem
Row 1: CH 13. SC into 2nd CH from hook and till end.
FO. Leave long tail to sew stem onto the top of the pumpkin hat.

That’s it! Enjoy making your own pumpkin hat! If you want to turn this pumpkin hat into a Jack-o-Lantern hat, you can follow the steps for the face from my Jack-o-Lantern pattern!
