Crochet Baby Hat Pattern

Hi Everyone!

Happy Spring! Today I want to share with you a newborn baby crochet hat pattern. I’ve seen a lot of baby hat patterns around and wanted to try writing a pattern for one as well. This is a very basic pattern that uses two different type of stitches.

Materials
5.00 mm (H) Hook
Worsted Weight Yarn (Caron Simply Soft)
Tapestry Needle
Scissors

Abbreviations – US Terms
CH – Chain
SLST – Slip Stitch
HDC – Half- Double Crochet
DC – Double Crochet
FO – Finish Off ST – Stitch

Pattern
Round 1: CH 2. 12 DC in MR. SLST into the first ST. (12)
Round 2: CH 2. 2 DC into each ST around. SLST into the first ST. (24)
Round 3: CH 2. *2 DC into next ST, DC into the one after that.* Repeat from * to * around. SLST into first ST. (36)
Round 4: CH 2. *2 DC into next ST, DC into the next two ST after that.* Repeat from * to * around. SLST into first ST. (48)
Round 5 – 15: CH 1. HDC in each ST around. SLST into first ST. (48)
FO. Weave in ends.

Note: The chains at the beginning of each round do not count as a DC or a HDC.
