Crochet a Santa Hat Applique – Day 2 of 12 Advent Calendar – Christmas Decorations – Easy Pattern

Hi!

It’s Day 2 of 12 of the Crochet Advent Calendar and it’s a Santa Hat Applique! These ornaments work up quickly so you can make them up quickly and with very little material.

Let’s start crocheting!

Materials: Santa Hat Applique

2.00 mm Crochet Hook
Lace Weight Yarn (I used Woolike)
Tapestry Needle
A Pair of Scissors
Hook & Eyes or Buttons

Note: The numbers in the brackets represent the number of stitches in each row

Abbreviations

CH – Chain
SC – Single Crochet (DC in UK terms)
SC2TOG – Single Crochet 2 Stitches Together (DC2TOG in UK terms)
ST – Stitch
SLST – Slip Stitch
Puff Stitch – (Yarn over, insert hook, yarn over, pull up a loop) x 4. (9 Loops on hook.) YO, pull through all 9 loops
FO – Finish Off

Pattern: Santa Hat Applique

CH 9.

Row 1: SC in 2nd CH from hook and till end of row. Turn. (8)
Row 2 – 3: CH 1. SC in each ST across. Turn. (8)
Edging: SC 22 around. – Make 2 SC in each corner. (22)
FO with invisible FO.

Top of Hat

Row 1: Attach yarn and SC 10 across. Turn.
Row 2: CH 1. SC in each ST across. Turn. (10)
Row 3: CH 1. SC2TOG. SC in next 6. SC2TOG. Turn. (8)
Row 4 – 5: CH 1. SC in each ST across. Turn. (8)
Row 6: CH 1. SC2TOG. SC in next 4. SC2TOG. Turn. (6)
Row 7 – 8: CH 1. SC in each ST across. Turn. (6)
Row 9: CH 1. SC2TOG. SC in next 2. SC2TOG. Turn. (4)
Row 10: CH 1. *SC2TOG.* Repeat across. Turn. (2)
Row 11: CH 1. SC in each ST across. Turn. (2)
Row 12: CH 1. SC2TOG (1)

Change to white yarn.

Row 13: CH 2. Make a Puff stitch. (9 loops on hook) CH 1. SLST into SC2TOG from previous round. FO.
