Crochet Baby Hat Pattern – Newborn – Free and Easy Pattern

Hi!

If you are looking for a simple and cute crochet baby hat pattern, here it is! I even added a little heart applique to make a cute little contrast to the hat. You will only need to know single, double, and front post double crochet for this pattern. And if you don’t want to do the ribbed edging, you will only need to know the single crochet stitch. Yay!

Materials: Crochet Baby Hat

4.00 mm Hook
DK Yarn (Loops & Threads Delicate DK)
Scissors
Tapestry Needle
Stitch Marker

Note: The numbers in the brackets represent the number of stitches in each row

Abbreviations

CH – Chain
MR – Magic Ring
SLST – Slip Stitch
SC – Single Crochet (DC in UK terms)
DC – Double Crochet (TR in UK terms)
FPDC – Front Post Double Crochet (FPTR in UK terms)
ST(s) – Stitch(es)
FO – Finish Off

Pattern: Crochet Baby Hat

Heart
All done in MR: CH 2. DC 2. CH 2. DC 3. CH 2. DC 3. CH 2. DC 3. SLST into middle of MR. FO with long tail for sewing.

Hat

Round 1: SC 6 in MR. (6)

Round 2: 2 SC in each ST around. (12)

Round 3: *1 SC, 2 SC in next* Repeat around. (18)

Round 4: *1 SC in next 2 STs, 2 SC in next.* Repeat around. (24)

Round 5: *1 SC in next 3 STs, 2 SC in next.* Repeat around. (30)

Round 6: *1 SC in next 4 STs. 2 SC in next.* Repeat around. (36)

Round 7: *1 SC in next 5 STs. 2 SC in next.* Repeat around. (42)

Round 8: *1 SC in next 6 STs. 2 SC in next.* Repeat around. (48)

Round 9: *1 SC in next 7 STs. 2 SC in next.* Repeat around. (54)

Round 10: *1 SC in next 8 STs. 2 SC in next.* Repeat around. (60)

Round 11: *1 SC in next 9 STs. 2 SC in next.* Repeat around. (66)

Round 12: *1 SC in next 10 STs. 2 SC in next.* Repeat around. (72)

Round 13 – 31: SC around. (72)

Note: After Round 31 SLST into 1st SC.

Round 32: CH 2. DC around. (72) (CH 2 doesn’t sound as DC) SLST into top of CH 2. (72)

Round 33: CH 2. DC in FPST around. (72)

FO with invisible FO.

Sew on Heart. FO and weave in ends.
