Crochet a Christmas Light Applique – Day 3 of 12 Advent Calendar

Hi!

It’s Day 3 of 12 of the Crochet Advent Calendar and it’s a Christmas Light Applique! These Christmas lights work up quickly so you can make them up quickly and with very little material. You can also make them in different colours and make a garland with them!

Let’s start crocheting!

Materials: Christmas Light Applique

2.00 mm Crochet Hook
Lace Weight Yarn (I used Woolike)
Tapestry Needle
A Pair of Scissors
Hook & Eyes or Buttons

Note: The numbers in the brackets represent the number of stitches in each row

Abbreviations

CH – Chain
SC – Single Crochet (DC in UK terms)
SC2TOG – Single Crochet 2 Stitches Together (DC2TOG in UK terms)
ST – Stitch
SLST – Slip Stitch
SK – Skip
FO – Finish Off

Pattern: Christmas Light Applique

CH 4.

Row 1: SC in 2nd CH from hook and down chain. Turn. (3)
Row 2 – 3: CH 1. SC in each ST across. Turn. (3)

Change to light colour at the end of Row 3.

Row 4: CH 1. SC 2 in 1st ST. SC in next. SC 2 in last ST. Turn. (5)
Row 5: CH 1. SC 2 in 1st ST. SC in next 3. SC 2 in last ST. Turn. (7)
Row 6: CH 1. SC 2 in 1st ST. SC in next 5. SC 2 in last ST. Turn. (9)
Row 7 – 11: CH 1. SC in each each ST across. Turn. (9)
Row 12: CH 1. SC2TOG. SC in next 5. SC2TOG. Turn. (7)
Row 13: CH 1. SC2TOG. SC in next 3. SC2TOG. Turn. (5)
Row 14: CH 1. SC2TOG. SC in next. SC2TOG. Turn. (3)
FO.

Attach yarn at colour change.

Edging: SC 11 down side. Ch 2. SLST in 2nd ST from hook. SK 1. SC 11 up other side. FO.
