Crochet Baby Santa/Elf Hat

Hi everyone!

I have seen so many amazing crochet Christmas items online lately and it made me think of the crochet baby hat I made awhile ago. I have this holiday homespun yarn I bought when it was cheap after the holiday season. I like homespun yarn because I always finish projects really fast when I use it.

This newborn baby Santa/Elf hat pattern is from Amber’s The Flighty Crafter Blog. It is an elf hat, but since I made it with red and added a white trim, I think it would work as a Santa hat as well 🙂 This pattern was easy to follow and it seems like you can make it into many different sizes by adjusting the pattern a little. I will definitely be making a different sized elf hat…possibly for myself.

I used the Clover Pom Pom Maker to make the pom pom for this hat. It is so quick and easy to make one with this! If you don’t want to buy a pom pom maker, it is very easy to make ones out of cardboard. Here is a tutorial by Giddyup Workshop to make the discs and here is a tutorial by Bernat Yarns on how to use them.

Here are my results:

I think this will look adorable on a newborn for the holiday season! I really like Amber’s pattern and liked how it turned out using the homespun holiday yarn. I definitely recommend making one for any newborns you may know 🙂

Thanks for visiting my blog! Please feel free to visit my Etsy Store if you would like to purchase the finished item 🙂
