Crochet Pumpkin Applique Pattern – Bonus Jack-O-Lantern – Easy Fall Decorations

Hi everyone!

It is almost Halloween and I thought it best to post the pattern for the pumpkin appliqué before then! You can also use some embroidery and turn it into a jack-o’-lantern for your autumn decorations if you want. You can also add it to the autumn garland, along with the toadstool and acorn appliqué!

This is a really quick pattern so let’s get started!

Materials: Pumpkin Applique

3.00 mm Crochet Hook
DK Yarn (I used Patons Astra)
Tapestry Needle
A Pair of Scissors

Note: The numbers in the brackets represent the number of stitches in each row

Abbreviations

MR – Magic Ring
CH – Chain
SC – Single Crochet (DC in UK terms)
DC – Double Crochet (TR in UK terms)
SLST – Slip Stitch
FO – Finish Off

Pattern: Pumpkin Applique

Round 1: 8 SC in MR. (8)

Round 2: *2 SC in next 2, 1 SC in next 2* Repeat around. (12)

Round 3: *2 SC in next, 1 SC in next, 2 SC in next, 1 SC in next 3* Repeat around. (16)

Round 4: *2 SC in 1st, 1 SC in next 2, 2 SC in next, 1 SC in next 4.* Repeat around. (20)

Round 5: *2 SC in next 2 STs, 1 SC in next 2, 2 SC in next 2, 1 SC in next 4.* Repeat around. (28)

Round 6: *2 SC in next 4 STs, 1 SC in next 2, 2 SC in next 4, 1 SC in next 4.* Repeat around. (44)

Round 7: SLST, CH 2, DC in next 20, SC 2 in next 2 STs, DC in next 20, CH 2, SLST in next. FO. (46)

Stem

Attach yarn in middle of top. CH 4, SC in 2nd CH from hook and the rest of the STs. SLST to same ST as CH 4. FO. (3)

Bonus Jack-O-Lantern
Using black yarn, sew a face onto the pumpkin. You can see how I made mine from watching the tutorial here.
