Fun Crochet Sun Applique Pattern – Summer Garland Decoration

Hi everyone!

It’s time to share the last applique for our Summer Garland decoration! This last one is a simple and cute little Crochet Sun Applique. I used a bright yellow yarn Paton Astra DK yarn for this to make the sun shine hehe. It’s a bit smaller than the other appliques, but it helps bring the garland together.

If you also want to make this summer garland, you can head over and crochet the watermelon, ice cream cone, and popsicle appliques as well!

Let’s start crocheting!

Materials: Crochet Sun Appliqué

DK Yarn (I used Patons Astra)
3.00 mm (D) Hook
Scissors
Tapestry Needle

Note: The numbers in the brackets represent the number of stitches in each row.

Abbreviations

CH – Chain
SC – Single Crochet (double crochet in UK Terms)
DC – Double Crochet (treble crochet in UK terms)
MR – Magic Ring
ST – Stitches
SLST – Slip Stitch
FO – Finish Off

Pattern: Crochet Sun Appliqué

Round 1: 6 SC in MR (6)
Round 2: 2 SC in each (12)
Round 3: 1 SC, 2 SC in next. Repeat around. (18)
Round 4: 2 SC in next, SC in next 2 STs. Repeat around. SLST into 1st. (24)

Round 5: In next stitch. (DC, CH 2, SLST into 1st CH, DC) in same stitch. SLST into next. *(DC, CH 2, SLST into 1st CH, DC) in same ST. SLST into next.* Repeat around. (8 sun rays)

FO with invisible FO.

Crochet Sun Applique complete! To create the garland, just grab a piece of long string or yarn and sew in and out into the top of each applique piece in any way/order you like. I alternated and had one extra ice cream cone to make it look more even, but it is all up to you!

I think this crochet sun applique is so cute! And I really enjoyed designing the patterns for this summer garland. I am already thinking about the fall garland and may have already designed something hehe
