Crochet Granny Square Book Sleeve Pattern – Free Tutorial – Quick and Easy Crochet

This week I want to share a simple pattern using a granny square. This crochet book sleeve is very simple to make with a granny square in the size of your choice and with a bit of hand sewing and a few details you can make this book sleeve for a gift!

Materials:
5.00 mm Crochet Hook
Worsted Weight Yarn
3.00 mm Crochet Hook
DK Yarn
Tapestry Needle
A Pair of Scissors
Note: The numbers in the brackets represent the number of stitches in each row
Abbreviations
CH – Chain
SC – Single Crochet (DC in UK terms)
HDC – Half Double Crochet (HTR in UK terms)
DC – Double Crochet (TR in UK terms)
SLST – Slip Stitch
ST(s) – Stitch(es)
FO – Finish Off
Pattern:
Granny Square – 5.00 mm hook and Worsted Weight Yarn
Chain 3.
Round 1: 2 DC in 3rd chain from the hook. *CH 3. 3 DC in the centre.* Repeat three times. CH 3. SLST to the top of the beginning CH 3.
Round 2: CH 3. 2 DC in same CH 3 space. *CH 1. (3 DC, CH 3, 3 DC) in next CH 3 space.* Repeat three times. CH 1. 3 DC in beginning CH 3 space. CH 3. SLST to the top of beginning CH 3.
Round 3: CH 3. 2 DC in same CH 3 space. *CH 1. 3 DC in CH 1 space. CH 1. (3 DC, CH 3, 3 DC) in next CH 3 space.* Repeat three times. CH 1. 3 DC in CH 1 space. CH 1. 3 DC in beginning CH 3 space. CH 3. SLST to the top of beginning CH 3.
Round 4 – 10+: CH 2. 2 DC in same CH 3 space. *CH 1. 3 DC in next two CH 1 spaces. CH 1. (3 DC, CH 3, 3 DC) in next CH 3 space.* Repeat three times. CH 1. 3 DC in next two CH 1 spaces. CH 1. 3 DC in beginning CH 3 space. CH 3. SLST to the top of beginning CH 2.
Repeat Round 4 until you reach the size of square you would like. You will just have to do 3 DC and CH 1 in each Chain 1 space around.
Finishing Off: Flip piece over and fold three of the corners towards the centre and sew the edges together
Leaf and Tie – DK Yarn and 3.00 mm hook
CH 6.
Round 1: SC into 2nd CH from hook.
DC in next 2 STs. HDC in next. SC in last. CH 2. SLST into 1st CH. SC into same ST as SC.
HDC on other side of CH. DC in next 2 STs. SC in last.
SLST into first SC.
CH 70. SLST into top point of sleeve.
FO.
