Crochet an Apple Applique – Free Pattern – Autumn/Fall Decor

Hello!

Welcome to my apple appliqué crochet pattern. This is the second last addition to the autumn garland that initially had been an attempt at making a pumpkin appliqué. Once I finished I realized it looked more like an apple than a pumpkin. That’s the fun of designing!

This could also be added to some classroom decorations at the beginning of the school year as well!

I have also been thinking of turning all my appliques into bag charms. What do you think? Will have to do some tests!

Anyways, let’s get started!

Materials: Apple Applique

3.00 mm Crochet Hook
DK Yarn
Tapestry Needle
A Pair of Scissors

Note: The numbers in the brackets represent the number of stitches in each row

Abbreviations

MR – Magic Ring
CH – Chain
SC – Single Crochet (DC in UK terms)
HDC – Half-Double Crochet (HTR in UK terms)
ST – Stitch
SLST – Slip Stitch
DC – Double Crochet (TR in UK terms)
TR – Treble Crochet (DTR in UK terms)
FO – Finish Off

Pattern: Apple Applique

Apple

Round 1: 9 SC in MR. (9)

Round 2: 2 SC in each ST. (18)

Round 3: *1 SC, 2 SC in next.* Repeat around. (27)

Round 4: *1 SC in next 2 STs, 2 SC in next.* Repeat around. (36)

Round 5: SLST, DC in next 2, 2 TR, TR, in next 3, 2 TR, DC in next 2, HDC, 2 HDC, HDC in next 3, 2 DC, SC, SLST in next 2, SC, 2 DC, HDC in next 3, 2 HDC, HDC, DC in next 2, 2 TR, TR in next 3, 2 TR, DC in next 2, SLST. FO. (45)

Stem
Attach yarn in middle of top of apple. CH 4, SC in 2nd CH from hook and the rest of the STs. SLST to same ST as CH 4. FO. (3)

Leaf

CH 6.

SC into 2nd CH from hook.

DC in next 2. HDC in next. SC in last. CH 2. SLST into 1st ST from hook. SC into same ST as SC. HDC on other side of CH. DC in next 2. SC in last. FO with long tail.

Use tail to sew leaf onto apple.
