Easy Crochet Scrunchie Pattern – Step by Step

Hello!

If you follow my blog regularly you will know I love to use lace weight yarn to make things with. This week I wanted to use up some more of it and decided to create a pattern for a simple crochet scrunchie. It uses a regular hair tie as the elastic and you just crochet around it to make a cute little accessory. It only takes three rounds!

Let’s start!

Materials: Crochet Scrunchie

2.00 mm Hook
Lace Weight Yarn
Scissors
Tapestry Needle
Elastic Hair Tie

Note: The numbers in the brackets represent the number of stitches in each row

Abbreviations

CH – Chain
SC – Single Crochet (DC in UK terms)
HDC – Half-Double Crochet (HTR in UK terms)
DC – Double Crochet (TR in UK terms)
ST(s) – Stitch(es)
SLST – Slip Stitch
SK – Skip a Stitch
FO – Finish Off

Pattern:

Round 1: SC around elastic band. SLST into 1st SC. (85)

Round 2: CH 1. HDC around. SLST into 1st HDC. (85)

Round 3: *SK 1. (DC 3, CH 2, SLST in 1st ST from hook, DC 2) in next . SK 1. SLST in next 2.* Repeat around. SLST into first ST.

FO and weave in ends.
