
Crochet Heart Coaster – Colourwork – Free Pattern – Free Chart – Video Tutorial

Hello!
I have wanted to try using my cross stitch program for a crochet colour work project for a while. I decided to start with something small so here is a cute heart coaster pattern! It is simple and I have provided a video tutorial as well.
Let’s get started!

Materials:
5.00 mm Crochet Hook
Worsted Weight Yarn
Tapestry Needle
A Pair of Scissors
Note: The numbers in the brackets represent the number of stitches in each row
Abbreviations
CH – Chain
SC – Single Crochet (DC in UK terms)
ST – Stitch
SLST – Slip Stitch
SK – Skip a Stitch
FO – Finish Off
MC – Main Colour
CC – Contrasting Colour
Cluster Stitch: Yarn Over, insert hook, YO, pull through two loops. Repeat until have 5 loops on hook. YO, pull through all 5 loops.

You will be working back and forth in the direction of the arrows for each row. The odd (black text) numbers are the right side and the even (red text) numbers are the wrong side.
Pattern:
CH 14. Follow Chart.
Border Round 1: 58 SC around for border, make 3 SC in each of the corners.
Border Round 2: SLST. Cluster Stitch in next. [CH 2, SK 2, Cluster ST in next. Repeat until corner. (In corner: Cluster ST, CH 3, Cluster ST.)] Repeat around. FO.

Remember to block the coaster once it is done to really make your colour work stand out!
