Crochet a Heart

How to Crochet a Heart – Free Pattern – Valentine’s Day 2025 – Crochet Video Tutorial

Crochet a Heart

Hi!

With it almost being Valentine’s Day, I wanted to share these cute little hearts to your holiday decor. You can crochet a heart and create pins or a banner. You may also recognize that the granny square heart comes from my pattern from last year, where I used it for the Love Message Wall Hang!

Let’s get crocheting on two ways to crochet a heart!

Materials: Crochet a Heart

3.00 mm (D) Crochet Hook
DK Yarn
Tapestry Needle
A Pair of Scissors
Safety Pin (Optional)

Note: The numbers in the brackets represent the number of stitches in each row

Abbreviations

MR – Magic Ring
CH – Chain
SC – Single Crochet (DC in UK terms)
DC – Double Crochet (TR in UK terms)
ST – Stitch
SLST – Slip Stitch
FO – Finish Off

Pattern:

Heart #1:
All done in MR: CH 2. DC 2. CH 2. DC 3. CH 2. DC 3. CH 2. DC 3. SLST into middle of MR. FO with long tail for sewing.

Heart #2:
All done in MR: 3 DC, 2 SC, CH 2, 2 SC, 3 DC. SLST into middle of MR. FO with long tail for sewing.

If you are turning these into pins, use the tail to sew the safety pin onto the back of the crochet heart.

To make a garland, all you need is a length of string or yarn and weave it into two stitches on the back of each heart!
