Basic Crochet Cowl Pattern

Basic Crochet Cowl Pattern

Hi Everyone!

Back again with another basic crochet pattern. This cowl can be adjusted to any length and width. You just have to adjust how many chains you start with and how many rows you do. I made this using Red Heart’s Boutique Unforgettable yarn in the Winery colour. This yarn is a little hard to work with, but once you get used to it, the colours of the yarn are really quite nice.

Materials
6.0 mm (J) Hook
Worsted Weight Yarn – Roving Yarn (I used Red Heart’s Boutique Unforgettable Yarn – Winery) Scissors
Tapestry Needle

Abbreviations - US Terms
CH - Chain
SLST - Slip Stitch
HDC - Half- Double Crochet DC - Double Crochet
BKLPO- Back Loop Only
FO - Finish Off SC - Single Crochet
TC - Treble Crochet

Pattern – Cowl

Round 1: CH 1. HDC in same ST. HDC around. SLST into 1st ST.
Round 2: CH 2. DC in BKLPOin same ST. DC in BKLPO around. SLST into 1st ST.

Round 4 – 19: Repeat Round 2 for the even number rows and Round 3 for the odd number rows.
FO. Weave in ends.

Note: You can chain more or less to adjust the length of the cowl and you can adjust the height of the cowl by doing more or less rounds.

Pattern – Flower
CH 28.
Row 1: DC, TC, DC in 2nd CH from hook. *SC in next CH. (DC, TC, DC) in next CH.* Repeat from * to * till last CH. (DC, TC, DC) in last ST. Turn
Row 2: CH 2. DC, TC, DC in 1st ST. *SLST in next ST. DC, TC, DC in next ST.* Repeat from * to * till last ST. (DC, TC, DC) in last ST.
FO. Leave long tail to sew flower together.

Note: To form the flower roll up the finished piece and sew the layers together when you are happy with how it looks.

That’s the pattern! It is a nice simple cowl that looks really nice with the different colours that are in the yarn.
