Crochet Beanies

Hello Everyone!

Happy New Year! It’s 2016! I wanted to share with you in the next few posts the different presents I made my family for Christmas. Some of them I made awhile ago, but today’s post is about beanies/hats that I finished just before Christmas. I wanted to make my grandparents hats for the winter, but didn’t have a lot of time to complete them so I went on Ravelry looking for quick hats that still looked nice. I found this easy pattern on the Classie website and finished the hats in just a couple of days! The pattern is in UK/AUS crochet terms, so if you are used to US terms you can easily just convert the pattern. For example, if it says TR (Treble Crochet) in UK/AUS terms, this means a DC (Double Crochet) in US terms.

Here are my results:

I didn’t have time to take more pictures since I finished these on Christmas Eve, but you can see how this simple pattern can be adjusted to make lots of difference styles using different yarns and techniques. I used Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice for the grey hat and Caron Simply Soft for the pink hat. I also used a 6.5 mm hook for both hats, making this a very quick project. The flower I added to the pink hat is also very simple.

Pattern for Flower
CH 25.
Row 1: DC into 3rd CH from hook and till end (23).
FO. Leave tail for sewing.
Roll the crocheted piece until you are happy with the shape of the flower and sew the layers together. Then sew the completed flower onto the hat.

I definitely recommend using this pattern to make hats in all styles and sizes. Happy crocheting!
