Nautical Knot Headband Pattern

Hi Everyone!

Time for another crochet project! This time it is a very quick and simple nautical knot headband. I have made these in many different colours and its something that can be easily made for a last minute present πŸ™‚ The pattern is from Cami’s You Seriously Made That Blog. All you need is just some yarn, some ribbon, and a hot glue gun!

This pattern only requires chaining 2 strands of yarn. One long one and one shorter one. Easy Peasy! Once that is complete, it is time for the knot. The pictures on Cami’s blog post illustrate the different steps that are required to make the knot. It may look confusing at first but following the pictures step by step, the knot is formed πŸ™‚ So go on and try it out! Make lots so there is always something on hand if you need a quick present to give someone πŸ˜›

Basketweave Scarf Pattern

Hi Everyone!

I am back again with another crafty project I am working on. This time I am knitting a basketweave scarf that I am making for my friend. It always takes me longer to finish something when I knit it compared to when I crochet it. I want to learn how to knit quicker! I would like to one day make a sweater. I tend to crochet more because its a lot less time consuming.

I started this scarf about a year and a half ago and have been knitting it on and off. Hopefully I will be done by Christmas! How ever long it is taking I do enjoy making it. The pattern is very uniform and the texture gives it a softer look. There are many different patterns for the basketweave which result in different formations of the blocks. This pattern was given to me by my cousin and is really straightforward. The same 4 rows are down over and over and over again until the scarf length is at the desired length. You can probably use this pattern for other things around the house.

I really enjoy the simplicity of the pattern because I can memorize it easily and take the knitting with me anywhere I go. I plan to use 3 skeins of yarn since my friend wanted a long scarf.

Sorry for the different colours of the pictures. The first picture is the closest to the true colour of the scarf. The lighting in my house is not the best πŸ™‚

Here is the Pattern that I used:

Basketweave Pattern
Cast On 48 stitches
Row 1: Knit All Stitches
Row 2: Knit 1, Purl 3 (Repeat)
Rpw 3: Knit 2, Purl 2 (Repeat)
Row 4: Knit 3, Purl 1 (Repeat)

If you would like to use this pattern for a wider scarf or even a blanket, just make sure to cast on in a multiple of 4. So cast on 52, 56, 60, etc., stitches to make something wider.

Do you guys have any advice for knitting quicker? Leave me a comment if you do! I would really appreciate it! πŸ˜€

Chocolate Cake Recipe

Hi Everyone its Chocolate Cake Time!

I love love LOVE to bake and am always looking for easy and delicious recipes to do. I like recipes that I can finish quickly since I tend to do a lot of baking at night time. Β I have been wanting to make a chocolate cake for a while since I have been making sponge cakes and meringues for the past couple of weeks. Most of the cake recipes that I found either used cake mix or had obscure ingredients that I did not have on hand. I finally found one that I could finish in a couple of hours on Jennifer’s Foodess Blog!Β I followed Jennifer’s recipe except for the buttermilk. I substituted it with milk and 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar instead of 1. I had all the ingredients on hand and so I started baking it at 9 pm at night. The cake was moist and was not too sweet which I really like.

For the buttercream frosting I used the recipe on Alice’s Savoury Sweet Life Blog πŸ™‚ For Alice’s recipe I cut all the ingredients in half since I didn’t want any left over icing because I always forget about it in the fridge and have to throw it out later.

Here are the pictures of the process.

I was done at around 10 pm and let the buttercream icing harden in the fridge before eating it for breakfast the next day πŸ˜› Easy and delicious!

Hexagon Tote Bag

Hi Everyone!

I haven’t posted in a while because I have just been finishing up with exams at school. I have many posts planned in the near future so keep checking for updates!

For this post, I will be previewing the hexagon tote bag that I am making for my cousin πŸ˜€ I have made this bag once before and it was a lot easier than I thought it would be. I found the pattern on Alice’s Future Girl BlogΒ and loved doing it. She has videos for each step which were really helpful when I had some trouble crocheting the corners. At first it looked really hard to do but once all the 26 hexagon motifs and 4 half hexagon motifs were made attaching them was easy once I watched the video πŸ™‚

Here is the hexagon tote bag I made for myself when I first started to crochet.

Hope you come back to see my second hexagon tote bag πŸ™‚
